This summer, I will be a Style Guru for College Fashionista and reporting on all things related to fashion! Keep an eye on my twitter account, @kcroutier, for my articles!
There is a tropical storm racing up the east coast, which unfortunately keeps this fashionista indoors and away from the beach.
Although this past week hasn’t allowed me to tan, a.k.a. get more freckles, it has allowed me to online shop and put together a summer wish list. Here are a few of the things I am looking to add to my wardrobe.
Recently, I was on StumbleUpon and I stumbled upon a great fashion blog called “This is Not New.” The blog has mens and womens styles so it is a great site to get inspiration for all fashionistas! I’ll post pictures from “This is Not New” that have inspired me.
Enjoy and let me know what outfits on “This is Not New” inspired you!
I hope everyone had a great summer! It was a world-wind for me: working, taking classes, spending time with the family, and, of course, shopping for back to school clothes!
This year I am going for a chic, yet comfortable looks that transition well from 4 hours of classes to an interview with the dean of the university to a delicious dinner with friends.
New York Fashion Week has me coveting designers from Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta to Alice+Olivia. It has been enlightening and inspiring to be able to see the magnificent lines from all of the different designers.
My goals for this year are to add a bit of sparkle and shimmer whenever I can and also to keep all of my outfits fun and transitional.
In the past, I posted pieces that I had purchased and loved. This year, I will share with you how I styled each outfit and different accessories. So keep an eye out for different outfits and I hope that I can inspire you one way or another!
Bloomingdales, J.Crew, Ann Taylor, Oh My! I have found some lovely dresses and accessories that are GREAT for Summer, Fall and Spring. The blazers from Bloomingdales are perfect for all seasons; if you wear them in the Fall and Winter just remember an extra jacket to stay warm if you are in cooler climates. I hope these pieces make you blush and crush!
These two dresses are PERFECT for a Hampton’s wedding. The first dress is FULL sequins for a more adventurous soul and the second dress is a silk dupioni dress that will be forever timeless. Beware! If your wedding is taking place outside, the J.Crew Diana dress would be more appropriate. It will also look very natural against an outdoor backdrop.
The blazer is a great accessory to make this J.Crew dress into an appropriate internship outfit. Without the blazer, it is a great summer party dress!
This dress-blazer combination is similar to the one above, but different. When I see this dress without the blazer, I think more “would wear on a date.” The ruffles on the neckline and the cinching at the waist are flirty and flattering.
Shockingly, I haven’t gone summer shoe shopping in close to TWO summers. It is very weird, but thrilling. There are so many cute and comfy shoes that I have personally tried on and … well … purchased. What?? I said TWO summers, TWO! That is a long time. Remember be SunSmart!
Oh, sunshine! Oh, sand! Oh, ocean breezeee!
This summer, I am looking to spending my free time at the beach with friends and family. After the long cold winter, I am thawing out and ready for dresses, cute skirts, adorable sandals, but most of all…GRAPHIC TANKS! I have one from my sorority’s Bid Day 2011 and I love it! It is perfect to throw on to run errands, go to the gym, or be a beach cover up. As I feel more in love my ONE and ONLY graphic tank, I walked into the glorious Forever 21 by my university and was pleasantly surprised to see that this summer’s line was jam packed with graphic tanks.
Before I share some of my favorite tanks, my sure you are SunSmart and lather on the protective sunblock. No one looks cute when they are burnt to a crisp. (I apply 100+ sunscreen – the honest truth!)
Here are some samples of my favorites:
